Introduction

Although living well before the advent of the internet, a quotation from Samuel Johnson – a famous English writer (1709-1764) –succinctly summarises the aim of this website.

'The next best thing to knowing something is to know where to find it '

Thus within the pages of this site can be found a whole range of technical and regulatory information on agrochemicals. The subjects covered are shown in the Index and can be accessed by clicking on the relevant entry. Each page is devoted to a subject concerning agrochemicals and provides a summary of the main points of interest. Where appropriate, there are references to the wider literature which will enable the reader to get more detail on the various subjects. These references are generally linked directly to an electronic publication and thus the additional information is only a “click away”.

There is also a direct link to the FOOTPRINT database which contains physicochemical, ecotoxicological and toxicological data on about 650 active ingredients and 200 metabolites.

Mention of sites in this publication is not a formal recommendation, nor is it a guarantee of their accuracy. Always remember when using the web that:

'Man's most judicious trait is a good sense of what not to believe'
Euripides (a Greek philosopher c.480 - 406 BC)
